Challenge Of Becoming a Teacher

SDN 10 is one elementary school in Cikini District. Overall SDN 10 has a number of students 279 children. While in Class IV where we carry out research there were 30 students Class Actions, comprising 20 boys and 10 girls. Achievement of Grade IV students of SDN 10 can be said to be average. Among students with one other student academic achievement is not too far adrift. However, based on learning outcomes in Class IV of the second semester of social studies subjects (reading a map of the local environment), has not reached the predetermined study, proved the class average achievement results of their study only 7.8.
Upon reflection (reflection) during the learning process in Class IV that has lasted this long, we found some facts in the class that led to low student achievement. Among teachers use instructional media have not been optimal, subjects think IPS is easy because its content was used to do everyday and many are grounded not tested nationally. With the above findings, the writer was intrigued him, to do concrete solutions in this case held a Class Action Research. Although the social studies subjects have not been tested in UASBN for us is no less important to do a Class Action Research with the aim that student achievement can be increased according to the school curriculum set targets.
Learning process that takes place / implemented in the SDN 10 for this, including deficiencies encountered are as follows:
The process of learning that goes on SDN Conventional 10 tends to be, that in carrying out a lot of learning still use the lecture method alone. In the early learning teachers do not use apperception, teachers are less motivating to students of learning, learning models are less attractive, teachers also rarely use props as aids in explaining or convey lessons that are abstract to the concrete so that students become more easily understood. This may be because the SDN X itself is less well-paced throughout elementary school in infrastructure and energy educators.

Problems faced during the learning process for this are as follows:
a) The teacher in learning is not optimal to use visual aids only occasionally.
b) Teachers do not use an innovative model of learning, more use of the lecture method, frequently asked questions and tasks.
c) Learning is still a text book or rote oriented,.
d) The learning process is still dominated by teachers, students are less actively involved in learning.
e) The methods used are lectures only (monotony).

Results of interviews / polls conducted a week before the implementation of the cycle, it turns out students who still have high morale in the IPS study only 9 of 26 students. In other words, students are less motivated in learning. These problems, the authors wanted to find a way out, which is conducting a Class Action Research by optimizing the use of media maps to improve student learning outcomes. This certainly a challenge how to become a teacher that we must face if we want to become a good teacher.
